Blended families are almost as prevalent as nuclear families today in the United States. The U.S. Census Bureau (2019) indicates that approximately half of all first marriages end in divorce. Sixty-five percent of those families that remarry have adolescent children living with them. A blended family marriage abruptly brings two families together along with engrained loyalties, parenting styles, boundaries and rules.
